Rajasthan Villages

Rajasthani
rural lifestyle is worth a see; more worthy is experiencing it! There can be
no better way to understand a great culture and lifestyle than living with such
people. A stay of a couple of nights with a rural family in their own farmland
can prove to be a welcome introduction to the unique agricultural practices,
customs and eating habits. Festivals with people performing rituals and ceremonies
are common. Live preparations of mouthwatering Rajasthani dishes and relishing
them later is an opportunity nobody can afford to miss!
A few entrepreneurs have come up with many such interesting ideas in which the
tourists are provided more that the usual levels of comforts of stay without
ever giving the impression of commercialization. Many farm retreats located
in Shekhawati region have also tastefully mixed up sightseeing of havelis in
an otherwise leisure-filled stay. Visits to the village (on camels, horses,
jeeps, camel-carts or bicycles) are also organized for better introduction to
Indian family and social systems. Many have come up with the idea of eco-friendly
living - chemical free and completely biodegradable. A number of them offer
Yoga sessions in perfect sylvan surroundings where only the calls of peacocks
occasionally break the silence.
Definitely it proves quite a rewarding experience. For me it always had been
a pleasant reminder to my right to have fresh air and my forbidden "early
to bed and early to rise" habit. For my tourists, however, it is the first
important step in living the REAL RAJASTHAN.
